Gem State Stock Horse Association, a client since 2017, is a horse show organization tailored to welcoming entry-level people into the sport of Reined Cowhorse. Horse showing can be full of jargon and feel overwhelming to newcomers. Gem State prioritizes education, helping its members find answers to questions they might be afraid to ask, presenting information clearly, and maintaining a cheerful and approachable tone.
Gem State also offers complete creative freedom. Dream client!

Online Entries
Gem State holds four horse shows per year, plus clinics and an awards banquet. They were previously accepting entries and membership forms with a mix of emails, Word documents, mail, faxes, and phone calls. This created unnecessary work for the show secretary and volunteer-based Board of Directors. I told them they'd need to pick between me and the fax machine if we were going to be working together! We went online-only in 2017.
Forms have expanded to include a way to claim your year-end award by selecting your name and choosing a size, making the volunteer-run awards committee's job vastly easier.
Online Entries also use a membership system that autofills responses from previous shows.

Helpful Guides for New Folks
I'm passionate about making the entry-level accessible. As someone that didn't grow up with horses, I found the access to information guarded and difficult to find. I feel strongly about removing this gatekeeping, and Gem State allows me to create helpful articles to ease the anxiety of getting started.
This Primer for the New and Nervous includes a map with pins showing where to park and check in at the event center, a light-hearted diagram of what to wear (and what not to wear), clear explanations of the rules, and lots more.
